When I first started out with young living, not even the business side, there were a lot of terms that I needed to know. One of them was OOS. OOS: out of stock. If you look to the website right now, there is A LOT out of stock, especially on the American side. You go looking for one oil and end up finding it isn't available. So what can you do? For some products, you can work your way around it with something that will do the trick until the oil you want is in stock. |
My choice for substitution would be cedarwood. Cedarwood helps erase negative memories and helps balance your thoughts, as well as help you to sleep. At half the price of a 15ml bottle, cedarwood may not be a blend with different properties, but it will help you rest your mind and help you release those negative emotions in a different capacity. Cedarwood, with me at least, helps me dream lovely dreams at night, which could also be another road block depending on the emotions you are having troubles with.
Frankincense: we've all heard 'when in doubt, use frankincense' but frank has been OOS for quite a few weeks now. It is being reserved for starter kits and for a while was replaced with sacred frankincense due to short stock. With it's incense smell, it's a tough oil to come even close to.
My choice for substitution would be Elemi. This is also known as 'poor mans frankincense'. It has an incense like smell, but to be honest, the first time I opened it it smelt like a jar of strong pickles. But it works the same as frank does and helps with my skin, cuts (it was great in helping my cut finger from thanksgiving heal and become soft skin again) and can be used as a substitute in blends for colds.
Lastly, RC and Raven are OOS. They are both powerful blends that help kick colds to the curb. For a while, it was OOS and the brought back in 5ml bottles, but now is definitely OOS. The ingredient RC is missing out on right now is the black spruce, which is just about ready to be distilled in the new Young Living farm 'Northern Lights' out in Fort Nelson, British Columbia. I am very excited for this because that also means valor will be back too! Now, Raven isn't missing components but since RC has been OOS and other cold kicks have been fluctiating in and out, this blend of ravintsara, lemon, wintergreen, peppermint and eucalyptus radiata, Raven has been in a state of flux as well.
My substitute? Any of the eucalyptus oils, but particularly globulus. This was gone for a while too but is now back in stock and ready to kick sinus colds to the ground. It is super potent and is great at clearing up sinus' and helping you feel more relaxed when you're so sick. Thieves would also be a great substitute as well and it's in the every day oils kit too! But eucalyptus is a part of both of these blends so I think that would be a great substitute. Maybe try using it with thieves too!
Have you substituted any OOS oils? With what?
