My colds last me anywhere from 5 days to 3 weeks. Sometimes that morphs into a sinus infection. And this time it did. My sinus infections usually roll in around end of September or Canadian thanksgiving (mid-October). Right in time for a new school school year when kids can make the cold worse, or when I go see my family and want to enjoy my time off. Great. This year the tables have changed though. I recently got a cold (maybe a week ago) and that quickly turned into a sinus infection unknown to me. |
I was feeling fine at noon when I started my half an hour drive out to Magrath. But by 2:30, only working 2 hours with one of my autistic families, I had to text the Mom and say I couldn't stay any longer. I felt like I was going to pass out from my eyes watering and the drowsiness that I might not be able to drive home safely. I didn't want any of her children to get this cold and had been slowing down each routine because I couldn't keep up. Even with my water bottle of thieves and lemon, I had to throw in the towel. I drove home, keeping both hands tightly gripped on the steering wheel, peppermint trying to cool down my flaming skin, and stress away to keep my anxiety down because of course in this situation my chest started to tighten and I worried.
I got home and immediately went to my US oils that were conveniently laying on the coffee table in the living room and picked up Raven. I went on pinterest, searched 'young living sinus infection' and found this. So I used 3 drops on the back of my neck, on my forehead and temples, on my cheek and on the bridge of my nose. In 30 minutes I was afraid I was having an allergic reaction; watering eyes, nose even more stuffed up than usual, drowsiness and fatigue, a creeping headache across the eyes, blowing my nose every 3 seconds. I even talked to my up line who said I might even be having a detox reaction. I didn't know what was going on.
But by the next day after a good nights sleep, I woke up feeling energetic, I could breath 75% better than the night before, no more runny eyes, and my headache was gone. So what did happen?
Personally, I think I overdosed a bit on the Raven. The powerful blend of Ravintsara, Lemon, Wintergreen, peppermint and eucalyptus radiata oils was incredibly strong. Even smelling it the first time when I wasn't sick made my eyes water a bit. But all I was thinking when I applied it was 'I believe in these oils and I just want to get better.' And call it voodoo, but it's only been 5 days since then and my nose is almost at 100% and all I'm left with is a dry cough, which for me is a sign of the tail end of a cold.
I'm SO happy this oil was FREE with my US essential rewards shipment. I don't know what I would have done without it this past few weeks. It helped me get through subbing and getting my name known in schools, with work, and with everything else going on in my life. To learn more about essential rewards check out here and here.
