Woo hoo! My concert was a huge success! A sold out house singing silent night with us on steel pan and a choir surrounding the audience?! Wicked! I'm very happy I got through the 2 rehearsals to get there though. And, of course, the first rehearsal night (Thursday) I get a wicked 1-2 headache combo: tension AND hormone. The two together was going to knock me out. I could feel it starting around lunch time while subbing out in Taber. It starts softly, and then your head starts banging, you can't think straight, you feel like you're going to throw up, and bad things happen (like being a grump). |
Tension: Valor, valor valor! Known as 'chiropractor in a bottle', rubbing valor on the back of your neck not only relaxing you, but helps get rid of the tension in your neck. Your neck the area that will most likely stimulate a headache and when rubbing valor on your neck, rub in a clockwise motion to help the valor absorb and kill some of that tension before valor gets to it.
Sinus: Peppermint is my go -to when I'm sick and have sinus issues (so is Raven, but for different reasons). If everything is plugged up and backed up, peppermint will help get rid of a) the heat in your face from being sick and b) once absorbed, will help open up your sinus' with its cooling action. My saying is 'I don't know, use peppermint!' Peppermint can be used for any of these headaches in the areas to rub the oils.
Cluster: Wintergreen is a known pain fighter. It is so strong it even needs a child proof lid. Wintergreen, pan away, and deep relief will be your best friends when you have a pounding headache around you eye. Apply at the temples and try not to think about your headache too much because it will soon be gone.
Ladies: Hormone headaches- There is a few things you can do to help get rid of your hormone headaches, which, at least for me, happen about 1 day -1 week before my period. FIrstly, use progessence phyto plus everyday. Yes EVERYDAY. I put mine on the inside of my elbows, rub it and done. If I have a hormone headache, I apply it at night too in the same spot. PPP has reduced the amount of hormone headaches I have every month by 75%. The intensity of them has also decreased significantly. But when I do get them, I treat them like a migraine. Read my testimonial below for what I did differently this time around.
And now for a testimonial: Thursday night, my tension headache and hormone headache combination was going to knock me off my feet. Whenever I get a headache, I make my roller blend combination or layer a bunch of the oils above (elemi is there as a substitute for frankincense) and layer it on the back of my neck and roll some on my temples and across my forehead. |
*trumpet call* But then I remember, my lovely friend who is also in global drums, has m-grain! This blend of marjoram, helichrysum, lavender, peppermint, basil, and roman chamomile, is amazing. She lent me the bottle (with a roller ball on it for easy application) and I rubbed a bit on my temples and on the back of my neck. Wow. My headache went down from a 7 to a 1 or 2. I didn't have to re-apply for another hour to hour and a half. My night was saved!!! M-grain is on my wishlist now. I am in love. And my friend is a life saver! The power of trying it yourself- so awesome!
